GRUNDIG VALVE RADIO TYPE 97
Here is a rare classic Grundig valve radio from the 50s in a lovely burgundy plastic cabinet. The radio does work but has weak sound level and could benefit from a full service. The shiny cabinet is free from any cracks and has only a few light scratches – the overall condition is very good for its age. The speaker grille material is showing its age and could be replaced quite easily so would make a nice restoration project.
The radio uses six valves – an EL84 audio along with ECC85, ECH81, EF89, EABC80 and EM84 magic eye. It’s a 4 band receiver covering LW/MW/SW along with FM. Size is quite compact for a valve radio measuring 35cm by 20 cm by 17cm deep. It weighs over 5kg, but lighter than the wooden cabinet models.
