ROBERTS R600 RED RETRO TRANSISTOR RADIO
This is a nice example of a Roberts R600 portable transistor radio from the late sixties. The radio has been cleaned and serviced and is in excellent fully working condition. Please see detailed photos to judge condition for yourself. The case is finished in red leatherette with real hardwood side panels – an iconic design for Roberts. Front and rear metal grilles are good with only very slight dings and tarnishing to the plastic silver strips. Top dial is clear with no cracks. Strap is excellent with no wear or cracking and a slight mark to the rear. Aerial is perfect and extends straight up rather than angles to the side to may not be original. All push buttons retain their end caps. Volume and Tuning knobs are original with some marks as often founds on these Roberts radios. The leatherette case is generally very good with a few dark marks and two very small nicks on the rear.
Sound quality is very clear with decent volume and bass from the Rola oval speaker. Receives FM (88-106MHz), MW & LW via built in aerial. Operates from a 9v PP9 battery (not included but available from Wilkinson for £2.99) or via an external 9v adapter (positive pin, not supplied). Size approx: 28cm wide, 17cm high, 9cm deep. Weighs in at nearly 2Kg. Serial number 162651.
This model has a rotating turntable base for optimum AM reception. There’s an external aerial socket for use in a car and a headphone socket.
